Crisis response protocol
How LoveLens handles content that may signal an immediate crisis. This page documents how the product actually behaves — the same commitments shown in our footer apply everywhere in the product.
- 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline — call or text 988 (United States, 24/7)
- Crisis Text Line — text HOME to 741741
- National Domestic Violence Hotline — 1-800-799-7233
In the AI chat and the reply assistant, every message is screened for signals of acute crisis: explicit self-harm or suicidal intent, violence threats, or abuse disclosure indicating immediate danger. Uploaded conversations go through two automated safety reviews as well — once after extraction and once before a report is finalized. Ordinary relationship conflict, arguments, or past-tense mentions of hard times are not treated as crises.
- The AI stops its normal analysis or suggestion flow immediately.
- The conversation shows the three help lines above (988, Crisis Text Line, Domestic Violence Hotline).
- The reply assistant returns no candidate replies for that message — only the referral.
- Analysis reports that trip the safety review are not scored; the report shows support resources instead.
- Every referral event is recorded (time and scenario, no conversation text) so we can audit that the protocol works, and — from July 2027 — to prepare the annual report required by California law (SB 243) for the Office of Suicide Prevention.
LoveLens is an AI tool for communication and self-reflection. It is not a human service, not emergency care, and not medical, legal, financial, or psychological services. If you are in crisis, please contact the services above — they are staffed by real people, around the clock.
